A Collection of Sacred Hymns, for the Church of the Latter Day Saints, 1835

This is the first LDS hymnal. It was put together by Emma Smith, as instructed in the Doctrine and Covenants, section 25. It contains 90 hymns. Today, the original is a very rare book, worth quite a bit of money. There have been reprintings, closer to the present (at least in the '70s), and these tend to run for about $20-30.

  • There was once a hymnal published, once available for purchase, given an order form printed out from the Internet, with all the hymns of the 1835 hymnal set to music (to the likeliest tunes); here is a cached link of the site that sold it.
