Originally, this song was set to an irregular poetic meter, but it is naturally designed to be able to accommodate C.M.D. lyrics. This is a Scottish traditional tune.

Meters

Traditionally, this song has another meter, but it would work well with many hymns in C.M.D., including the following: Rejoice! A Glorious Sound Is Heard, Amazing Grace and others.

• See Begin, My Tongue, the Heavenly Theme for an example of this tune to C.M.D. lyrics. (As far as I know, this is the first time these lyrics have been paired with this tune. Veramet 02:22, 28 July 2007 (MDT))
