This appears to be a German translation of the lyrics entitled Something for Thee (CyberHymnal (incipit "Savior, thy dying love"), written by Sylvanus Phelps. Something for Thee is the tune name. --Haruo 15:43, 6 August 2007 (MDT)

Hmm, thanks for the information. I might expect I'll come across many such situations in my notation of that hymnal. Is the tune Something for Thee, Something for Jesus or both? Veramet 20:53, 6 August 2007 (MDT)
Hmm, I don't know if I agree that it's a translation, so to speak (well, it appears that the person who did the German was aware of the English, but if it's a translation, it appears to be highly versified, so to speak, as many translations come to be). Veramet 21:05, 6 August 2007 (MDT)
You're right, I meant "Something for Jesus" rather than "Something for Thee" for the tune name (and occasionally as the title of the song). As to whether it's a translation or not, German is not my strongest suit, but it appears to me to be a loose translation, or paraphrase. But clearly it is in some sense based on Phelps's text, and the tune is clearly and completely Lowry's. --Haruo 03:57, 8 August 2007 (MDT)
Yes, I think a move with the name of the English article is necessary. The Cyber Hymnal's down right now, otherwise I'd look and decipher a good name. What's best to call the English lyrics? I'd still like to see a literal English translation of the German, but that's me. Veramet 11:00, 9 August 2007 (MDT)
