Authors of poems or lyrics who lived and wrote in the area once under the rule of the Roman Empire during the Middle Ages, or Medieval Period, which is to say roughly from the fall of the Western Roman Empire in the 400s (5th century) until the fall of the Eastern Roman (or Byzantine) Empire in the 1400s (15th century).
