General Information

  • Files should only be uploaded if they relate to the site and are to be used in/for the site. See the hotlinking section below for information on off-site use.
  • State the copyright information of the content of uploaded files, in the articles linked to them. Also state it in the file page itself, (at least if not yet linked). If the content of a file is public domain, this is not quite so expedient (though it is still needed and should be added—at least eventually).
  • Please also state the copyright of the files themselves (seeing as some people claim rights over their particular transcription, even though it may be of a public domain hymn); if you do not state it, you grant users the right to use it as if it were public domain until you do—you also agree not to sue them for ignorance in this matter.
  • See the personal works page for more information.
  • Any file type related to sheet music should work, though we recommend keeping the size as small as possible.
    • Let us know if you come across a file type that you think HymnWiki should allow, and we will consider allowing it.
  • See the copyright page for copyright information on the content you upload.

Hotlinking

  • Provided you create a HymnWiki article on the content you upload (which you must do in order to rightfully have uploaded it), you may hotlink directly to files you upload on HymnWiki so long as this in no way jeopardizes HymnWiki, does not infringe on anyone's rights (you should get permission from the person who made it if it wasn't you and it's not public domain), the site you hotlink from, and such. Remember, you are solely responsible for any hotlinking you do, and you should not do it in a defamatory, dangerous, illegal, or otherwise ill-conceived manner.
  • You may hotlink to content others have uploaded—provided it is public domain, or they otherwise grant the right to do so (if not—please refrain until permission is granted). Remember, you are solely responsible for any hotlinking you do, and you should not do it in a defamatory, dangerous, illegal, or otherwise ill-conceived manner.
