HymnWiki is a wiki for hymns.  It is still under construction, and therefore is not entirely functional as a wiki, yet, but it should be in the near future.  The primary purpose of HymnWiki is to make sheet music and information available to the public about hymns, hymn compilations, religious compilations (including children's songs) of sheet music or hymn-like poetry, anthems, motivational hymn-type songs, and traditional music (as traditional tunes are often associated with hymns; these should only have pages if they relate to hymns somehow).

Although the above is the goal of HymnWiki, and the posting of hymns of all faiths is encouraged, a primary focus is on the hymns and such of [http://www.lds.org/ the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (AKA the Mormon Church)]: new, old, foreign, etc.  It may come as a surprise to many, but the Mormon (LDS) church has a very large number of past hymnals (not all were published by the church).  HymnWiki is dedicated to making the content - and information about - these available (as well as promoting the current hymns), as far as copyright laws and granted permissions will allow, for historical and spiritual purposes.  HymnWiki is not associated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the church is by no means responsible for this website and the content thereof.  Many, if not most, hymns of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are common to many Christian faiths, and are not strictly Mormon.  Most hymns that are strictly Mormon are about the pioneers, coming to Zion (mostly old hymns here, as the saints are now encouraged to stay where they're from), the restoration of the gospel, prophets, and such.  To learn more about the church, go to http://www.mormon.org/

About HymnWiki: HymnWiki is a wiki for hymns.

Although the above is the goal of HymnWiki, and the posting of hymns of all faiths is encouraged, a primary focus is on the hymns and such of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (AKA the Mormon Church): new, old, foreign, etc. It may come as a surprise to many, but the Mormon (LDS) church has a very large number of past hymnals, and in many languages (not all were officially published by the church).
