1. We have met dear friends and brethren<br />
Our respects to pay to one,<br />
Who has left this world of sorrow,<br />
And to glory he has gone.<br />
<br />
2. Death once more has been amongst us;<br />
Our beloved friend is gone<br />
Who was near and dear unto us;<br />
Thus we're falling one by one.<br />
<br />
3. Let us drop on this occasion,<br />
Tears of sympathetic love,<br />
And thus mourn with the relations,<br />
For our friend, who lives above.<br />
<br />
4. Since our friend has gone to glory,<br />
Though we mourn, yet we'll rejoice;<br />
For he sought the way to heaven,<br />
And made Jesus Christ his choice.<br />

5. To all those who sleep in Jesus,<br />
Death is sweet and hath no sting;<br />
But to haughty stubborn sinners,<br />
Death, of terrors, is the king.<br />
