Let Judah rejoice in this glorious news,<br /> For the sound of glad tidings will soon reach the Jews,<br /> And save them far, far from oppression and fear,<br /> And deliv'rance proclaim to their sons far and near.<br /> <br /> 2. Long, long thou hast wandered an exile forlorn,<br /> And all that have seen thee have laughed thee to scorn;<br /> Thou nought but affliction and sorrow hast seen;<br /> Heart-rending and cheerless thy pathway has been.<br /> <br /> 3. In vain 'midst the nations for friends didst thou seek,<br /> They have robbed thee and spoiled thee because thou wast weak.<br /> No bosom has pitied, no friend has been near<br /> Thy woe-stricken spirit to comfort and cheer.<br /> <br /> 4.
